Le opere e i giorni

In the extraordinary location of the Padula Charterhouse, a sublime space rich in history, culture and spirituality and the biggest Charterhouse in Europe, the cultural exhibition Le Opere e i Giorni [Works and Days] was organised by Achille Bonito Oliva with the supervision of the General Direction for the Historical and Artistic Heritage of Salerno and supported with the EU funding of Campania region. This great exhibition gave new life to the beautiful and antique Carthusian cells by showcasing the genesis and the development of the work of art in history: from idea to creation, from planning to exposition.

The exhibition was on display from 2002 to 2004, with a different theme every year: the Verbum, on the various artistic languages; the Precept seen as the observation of Monastic life and the rule for the creative development of the artist; Vanitas, the transitory nature of beauty: pivotal centre of the Carthusian creed and essence itself of contemporary art; challenge to time in the light of the relationship between creativity, death and life
